ChameleonPDF

Browser PDF unlock

Unlock a PDF in your browser

Open a password-protected PDF in ChameleonPDF, enter the password, and keep working in the same browser workspace. If several locked PDFs are open, ChameleonPDF can try the same password on the others too.

Files stay local in your browser for normal ChameleonPDF workflows.

Open ChameleonPDF

How it works

  1. Open ChameleonPDF and add a password-protected PDF.
  2. Click the locked PDF and enter the correct password.
  3. Leave the checkbox ticked to try the password on other locked PDFs in the workspace.
  4. Export or download unlocked PDFs that no longer require the password.

Multiple locked PDFs

If multiple locked PDFs are open, the unlock dialog can try the password on the other locked documents when the checkbox remains ticked.

FAQ

Can ChameleonPDF unlock a PDF without uploading it?

Yes. ChameleonPDF's normal unlock workflow runs in your browser, so your PDF contents are not uploaded to ChameleonPDF servers for standard unlocking.

Do I need to know the PDF password?

Yes. ChameleonPDF unlocks PDFs when you enter the correct password. It is not a password recovery or password cracking tool.

Can I unlock multiple PDFs with the same password?

Yes. If multiple locked PDFs are open, leaving the checkbox ticked will try the password on the other locked PDFs in the workspace.

Will the exported PDF still ask for a password?

No. PDFs that are unlocked and then exported or downloaded are saved without the password protection you removed.

Can I merge or reorder PDFs after unlocking them?

Yes. Once the PDFs are unlocked in the workspace, you can continue with merge, reorder, edit, and export tools.

Can I unlock PDFs on Mac, Windows, or Chrome?

Yes. ChameleonPDF runs in modern browsers, so the unlock workflow works across typical desktop systems and browsers.
